I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

For all those who had lost hope on the spirit of American ideals, today’s election of OBAMA holds out some hope. Hope that the democratic and liberal ideals on which that nation was founded, is still alive and the country’s system can be self-healing and its strength of democracy can continue to be a guiding light for other nations.

I wish we could truly say India has a system that’s as solid and strong! Wonder when will our dreams will come true, where an opposition leader can come in support of an opponent on principal and still continue in the same party. Where a person is considered for the top post on merit instead of his religion or caste affiliations. And a system where opposition will work constructively.

Let’s Hope such a day comes while we are still alive, unlike the time it took for King’s dream to come true.
